Best time to visit: Bald Rock is good to visit any time of the year. During the colder months the air is very clear and the view from the summit is excellent.
September to October usually produce displays of wildflowers, and the parkâs wildlife are active and easy to see. This is the best time for nature study and wildlife photography.

Getting there: From Tenterfield: turn right at the northern end of Tenterfield into the signposted Woodenbong Road. Follow it north through grazing lands and forests, passing the turnoffs to Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo national parks. The road crosses over the Boonoo Boonoo River and Carrolls Creek, and youâll see a sign at the junction on Woodenbong Road and the park access road directing you into Bald Rock. Follow the paved access road for 5km to the picnic and camping areas. Road quality - sealed
From Stanthorpe: take the sealed road to Amosfield across the NSW/QLD border. From Amosfield turn south and follow the Woodenbong Road towards Tenterfield. This section of the Woodenbong Road is unsealed, but is well maintained. Continue south, crossing Mursons Creek and then Jenner Creek. Pass the Bald Rock Bush Retreat, a private bush holiday establishment, and after 5km youâll see the access road into Bald Rock National Park on the right.
Park fees / Vehicle entry fees: If youâre driving into the park, you will need to purchase a vehicle day pass. This costs $7. The park has coin-operated âpay and displayâ machines - please bring correct coins.
If youâre a regular visitor to NSW national parks, you can save on entry fees by buying an annual pass. Annual passes are available online, from the NPWS website.
